About

I am a Columbia, SC based freelance photographer with ten years experience contributing photos and photo stories for print and online media. I am the winner of multiple South Carolina Press Association Awards including Photojournalist of the Year for 2020 in the all weekly division.

I began taking photos at an early age, shooting rolls of 35mm color film on camping trips and family vacations. Armed either with my father's Nikon F-301 or a single-use disposable camera from the drugstore, I started to develop an eye for composition and tone. These first shots served as my initial experiments in the art of visual storytelling.

After a diversion into music, I ultimately settled into my natural role as a photographer. I currently work in the Columbia, SC area as a freelance photojournalist and photographer-for-hire. My work can be found on the pages of The Free Times, The Post and CourierJasper Magazine, and The Columbia Regional Business Report, among others. I also travel internationally to cover global events. In 2013, I traveled to the Middle East to report on the Syrian conflict and the growing humanitarian crisis hitting the region. In 2018 I went to Tijuana, Mexico to document the Central American Migrant Caravan as it arrived at the US-Mexico Border.

As a photographer-for-hire, I also occupy myself with shooting weddings, social events, portraits, locations and products for consumer, small business, and corporate clients.
